Hypnagogia (targeted dream incubation) to enhance creativity

Researchers from MIT and Harvard have demonstrated that people are more creative when awakened from the early stages of sleep and guided to dream about a specific topic. This method, facilitated by a device called Dormio, increased creativity by 43% compared to those who took a nap without specific dream guidance.

The research confirms that during the phase when one drifts between sleep and wakefulness, the creative mind is particularly fertile. If people are awakened during this phase and suggested topics to think about (targeted dream incubation), they are capable of generating more creative stories compared to individuals who napped without specific suggestions or those who stayed awake.
